article title: pellagra called infectious disease
date published: march 15, 1914
This article reports yet another theory of the cause of pellagra, this time the blame was put on the stable fly. Thomas-McFadden Pellagra Commission obtained evidence, after investigating pellagra in the south, that lead to the belief the disease is transmitted by the stable fly. This reports that pellagra is believed to be an infectious disease that can be transmitted from person to person, which is stated to be strongly supported by many of the field observations.
